Personal Assistant Backup

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Purpose and scope

Personal Assistant Backup is a personal-use desktop backup workflow operated by its owner. This policy describes its intended handling of Google user data and the operation of this informational website.

Information accessed

After the owner authorizes access through Google OAuth, the desktop application uses authorization tokens to interact with Google Drive. It accesses backup file contents and associated metadata, such as file names, identifiers, sizes, and modification times, as needed to perform backup and restore operations.

The intended Google Drive permission is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This permits access to files the app creates or that are specifically made available to it; it does not grant unrestricted access to every file in Google Drive. The application does not request Gmail or Google Contacts access.

How information is used

Google user data is used only to create, locate, retrieve, update, and delete backup files for the owner. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train general-purpose AI models. The application does not intentionally share backup contents with other users.

Storage and security

Backup files are stored in the owner's Google Drive. Desktop configuration and authorization tokens are kept on the owner's computer, separate from this public website. The intended backup design uses client-side encryption before upload; encryption must be configured and verified before backups begin.

Google processes the data sent to its services under its own policies. Cloudflare hosts this informational website and may process technical request information, such as IP addresses, for delivery and security. This website contains no application sign-in, upload form, advertising, or added analytics scripts, and does not receive Google authorization tokens or backup files.

Retention and deletion

Backup files remain until the owner removes them or a configured backup-retention process deletes them. Revoking Google access does not delete previously stored backups. The owner can delete stored backup files through Google Drive, including emptying Trash where applicable, and remove local copies and configuration from their computer. Google may retain data according to its service and retention policies.

Revoking access

The owner can revoke the application's access in the Google Account third-party connections settings. Once revoked, future access requires authorization again.

Google API data use

Personal Assistant Backup's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
